About the Event: TAS - Major Gifts Panel

This will be a panel style event with our special guest speakers, Sophie and Ed, talking about their extensive experience with working with Major Gifts. They will give an overview on what constitutes a Major Gift and outline the step by step process that is required to secure a Major Gift from a donor pool.

Sophie and Ed will also give real life examples from their extensive fundraising careers, highlighting some of their learnings over the years.

Ed Benyon has amassed over 25 years in the fields of non-profit institutional advancement and executive administration. Ed recently relocated to Hobart from the United States and was appointed Director Development with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra where he now directs and manages fundraising efforts including major gifts, annual funds, grant writing, corporate partnerships, events, and donor relations. From directing successful fund development programs in the arts, education, human services and health care fields, to teaching and leading a specialized education program for 7th-12th graders, Ed’s work experiences have been diverse and productive.

Sophie Davidson has worked in the not for profit sector in the US and Australia for more than 20 years – in conservation, education, social justice and the arts - and her efforts have seen more than $100 million delivered to a variety of causes. Sophie has particular expertise in major gifts and is currently Senior Manager Philanthropy & Development at WWF-Australia.
